1st Light Energy to Install Solar Panels on 21 Extra Space Storage Facilities in New Jersey
South Plainfield, NJ (June 22, 2011) – 1st Light Energy is teaming up with Extra Space Storage to place solar panels on the rooftops of 21 of their self-storage locations throughout New Jersey as part of a nationwide agreement with the company.
From Egg Harbor Township to North Bergen, 1st Light Energy will begin installing solar panels on the storage unit roofs throughout the summer.
"This agreement with Extra Space Storage is an example of the tremendous opportunities and benefits that currently exist for commercial businesses in New Jersey, such as owners of warehouses, factories and storage facilities, to use their roof tops to save on energy costs," said Barrett Peck, Vice President Sales and Marketing for 1st Light Energy. "These benefits are not only fiscal, especially with existing Federal and State tax incentives, but can also help to promote a company's values and influence the way consumers and the public view their company."
Each Extra Space Storage site will utilize a 50 kilowatt system (average). Together, the 21 sites will generate 1.2 million kilowatt hours annually - the equivalent of powering 170 homes from the sun.
From an environmental perspective, those energy savings are enormous. Consider the fact that 1.2 million kilowatt hours equates to 4 billion Btu's, which converts to 33,162 gallons of gasoline - enough to drive around the world 46 times!
