Non-Profit Organizations
Solar energy can help you demonstrate your commitment to the well-being of your community
Today, money is hard to come by. Projects are needed more than ever. The Non-Profit organization is being squeezed from all sides with reduced endowments, income, pledges, and increased costs for operations, facilities, and personnel. This is the territory of the non-profit organization in America today. So, why do we speak to you about solar energy?
Decreased Energy Costs
The cost of energy is consistently increasing, and is expected to continue to increase dramatically over the next three to five years. Utilities are becoming more sophisticated by creating multiple layers of charges and usage charges based on quantity, time, season, and any other factor which can cause variance. By installing solar, you can essentially lock in your rate as the sun's price will always stay the same. This protection from various energy increases allows your organization to operate within very well defined cost structures which are less than those set today and which will increase at about 50% of the rate of increase expected by the utilities.
The Third-Party PPA (Purchase Power Agreement)
The third-party ownership Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is method of financing which has been spreading across the USA over the past few years. In particular, it has become a very useful mechanism for financing solar PV systems in commercial and non-profit organizations. The PPA is designed as a long-term contract between a customer (the non-profit) and a third-party solar power developer and financier. The developer builds the solar system on the customer's property and owns the system as their asset. They, then, sell all of the power produced by the solar system to the customer. This allows the customer to use solar power and support the reduction of fossil fuels while avoiding any upfront costs. In addition, there may be performance guarantees associated with the power production.
The developer buys the solar system and obtains the federal, state, and utility incentives for the asset. The customer benefits by a significant reduction in their electrical expenditures and with consistency of utility costs for that energy over a 15 or 20 year period.
Organizational Values
Many non-profit organizations have fully embraced alternative energy, sustainability and other green-initiatives. There is no better way to show your commitment to green values than by installing solar energy. With new monitoring services offered by 1st Light Energy, our customers can clearly show their patrons, visitors, and employees the amount of solar energy being produced by the organization and the effect that generation has on environmentally sensitive issues like carbon output, planted trees, and sustainability of our globe.
Positive Public Perception
Many people feel that they are, to some degree, defined by the organizations they support. Studies and surveys have shown the growing number of the public's affinity toward organizations that embrace green values and implement green initiatives. Solar energy can help you demonstrate your commitment to the well-being of your community and the planet as well as your patrons. Allow 1st Light Energy a moment to discuss how the purchase, lease, or PPA of a solar system can provide you a lasting positive change in your way of doing business. This is the year to make a change.
